fruit and veggie cleaner with doterra essential oils

We’ve all heard the horror stories about the chemicals, germs and bacteria on our fruit and veggies, and we really don’t want to ingest those things along with our food, right? Did you know there can be over 42 types of pesticide residue on an apple?

Let’s get rid of the muck and enjoy fruit and vegetables as they are supposed to be enjoyed – fresh and clean – with a simple fruit wash!

Start simple – fill your sink with water, add 1 C. vinegar, 10 drops of Grapefruit essential oil, and mix. Put your fruit in a colander and lower it into the sink to soak for 10 minutes. The water will be dirty and fruit will sparkle with no wax or dirty film! This wash is great for berries too. It keeps them from molding and they’ll last much longer!

make your own fruit washFruit wash (for veggies, too!):

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 10 drops each Grapefruit and Lemon essential oil

Combine ingredients and pour into spray bottle. Use this to wash your fruit and vegetables and you’ll be helping to prolong the freshness by preventing premature rotting or molding!

You can also use this fruit wash in a bowl of water and clean your fruit and veggies that way.

While we’re on the topic of clean food, you can also mix a few drops of Grapefruit oil with water to use as a disinfecting solution for your cutting board, kitchen table and countertops!
