is your thyroid holding you to ransom?

In  2000, I had 80% of my thyroid removed, and have been taking Simvastatin ever since.

Weight loss has become harder as I’ve grown older, as we are taught to expect, but lately it’s been more of a standstill. And, of course, my doctor has heavily suggested that I lose weight and exercise more. I eat healthy meals already. We don’t eat out often, and I cook all my meals from scratch – making sure to make enough to take to work the next day for lunch. I count out 10 dried apricots for a snack, and a cheese stick, or 20 veggie straws – that kind of thing.

And losing weight is still extremely difficult. In fact, I was at a standstill.

It’s very hard in my town to find a doctor who will do all the in-depth thyroid tests, and my thyroid panel results come back fine every time. Yet, I’m still tired. My hair still falls out. My fingernails are brittle. My skin is dry. My muscles ache. All classic symptoms of hypothyroidism. But my “numbers” are fine.

I looked to my essential oil buddies, and found that someone had posted a testimony on using an essential oil recipe to support a sluggish thyroid, but I was reluctant to try it because most of my thyroid was missing, and I knew that I had to be on some kind of medication for the rest of my life. But I wondered what would happen if I used this blend in addition to my Simvastatin.

Megan’s testimony

My name is Megan. I had hypothyroidism and was using hormone replacement for treatment. I had been using Armour Thyroid for about 9 yrs. My dosage had been gradually increased over the years and I really did not want to be on hormone replacement the rest of my life. My doctor told me that it was not possible to heal your thyroid, but I decided to use essential oils to heal my thyroid anyway. I have had such good results with other health problems using the oils that I had confidence enough to try.

So I quit taking my hormone replacement and began using the oils. My doctor said, “well, come back in six months and we will see how much worse you are.” I gave it a year before going back for testing. My symptoms were gone even though I had not been using the thyroid oils for several months. It was time for the moment of truth. The test results came in and my doctor in his assessment concluded, “Prior history of hypothyroidism documented. TSH indicates now normal function. No concerning clinical symptoms. Will follow.” I was thrilled that my body was able to heal with the help of the oils. The oils that I used were as follows:

  • 10 drops Myrrh
  • 10 drops Lemongrass
  • 2-3 drops Clove
  • 2-3 drops peppermint

Put the oils in a rollerball, neat. Roll directly on thyroid area several times a day at first until you get results. Depending on symptoms, results could be more energy, hair and nail improvement, etc., then you can use once or twice a day till you feel you are functioning normally, and then once in awhile when you feel the need.

How’s my thyroid?

I have no idea! But I can tell you that I’ve lost 12lb in the month or so that I’ve been using Megan’s recipe
