If you’re participating in any New Year challenges – or even if you’re not – there are a number of ways that essential oils can help support a healthy weight release journey.
Besides using a metabolic blend to help curb cravings, normalize sugar levels, and balance your metabolism – there are many other oils that you can use in the kitchen.
I regularly use Oregano, Black Pepper, Lemongrass, Ginger, Basil, Marjoram, Cilantro and many others in my recipes.
Have you ever bought lemongrass from the grocery store, and you may use one stalk, and the rest of them just end up as a soggy mess in the container? Or, did you ever really consider buying a 1/2″ nub of ginger because that’s the amount the recipe called for? I alway ended up with a bunch of shriveled up ends of ginger root in my freezer because I was convinced I would use them in another recipe. Then, when the time came to use them, they just looked so unappealing I had to buy new ginger from the store, and so the cycle repeats itself.
Stop the madness!
All this food storage madness ended when I started using quality essential oils. I know have all those ingredients on hand. And they’re fresh! They smell wonderful, and though the therapeutic benefits may diminish due to the heat of cooking, they still taste amazing and I haven’t wasted any money on leftovers I’ll never use.
And now … some recipes …
These are some of the staple recipes in my house, along with the oils used. Of course, you can use the actual ingredients, but I have a lot of fun experimenting with oils in my recipes.
Sri Lankan Chicken Curry – Ginger, Coriander, Fennel, Cinnamon, Lemongrass
Tahini Green Goddess Dressing – Cilantro, Lemon, Black Pepper (However, the beautiful green color comes from real cilantro leaves!)
Paleo Zucchini Hummus makes a great snack! – Lemon, Black Pepper
Cantaloupe Agua Fresca – Lime (and I substitute agave or honey for the sugar)
(By the way, if you need help with menu planning, Plan to Eat is amazing! You can pull in recipes from anywhere on the internet with one click, plan your menu by dragging recipes onto a calendar, and it will even give you a categorized shopping list! Thumbs up from this busy mom!)
