Here in the northern hemisphere, summer is taking its toll on a lot of people. It seemed like this summer was a long time coming, but when it did hit, it hit with a vengeance!
You need to cool down!
There are a number of things you can do to keep the heat from getting you down.
- Take a hand towel, dip it in a bowl of water and wring it out until it’s not “dripping wet”. Drape it around your neck. Ahhhh, instant relief!
- Fill a small spray bottle with cool water. Add 5-10 drops of Peppermint essential oil, and use it to spritz any exposed skin. (Don’t forget to shake the bottle before spraying, and don’t forget to cover your eyes when you spritz your face! You don’t want Peppermint oil in your eyes!*)
- Embrace your inner child! Go outside and run through the sprinkler.
- Apply Eucalyptus essential oil to your temples and the back of your neck.
- Cool down by drinking water. Your body feels cooler when it’s adequately hydrated.
- Add 5 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil to 1oz arrowroot powder and apply to skin (avoiding sensitive areas, of course!)
- Close your eyes and think of winter! Sledding, ski-ing, building a snowman, making snow angels. Bonus “coolness” points if you’re imagining doing all these things naked!
*If you get any essential oil in your eye, or other sensitive area, do NOT use water to try to dilute it. Water only serves to drive the oil in further. You can flush it out with a carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, olive oil, jojoba, etc.
Stay cool!
