Chocolate Spearmint Meltaways

Spearmint essential oil is especially good in this Spearmint Meltaway recipe:


  • 1 1/2 lbs Milk Chocolate chips
  • 1 cup scalded heavy whipping cream
  • 4-5 drops Spearmint essential oil


In a double boiler, melt half the chocolate chips on low heat.  Keep stirring until completely melted.

Add spearmint oil as desired, and stir.

Add scalded heavy whipping cream and stir until smooth.

Pour mixture into a saran wrap lined square glass pan.  Leave unwrapped overnight.

Cut into one inch pieces.

In a double boiler melt the other half of the chocolate chips.

Carefully and quickly dip the soft one inch minty centers in the melted chocolate and set on a baking sheet.

Let set up for 2-3 hours, or you may freeze them for faster set up.

Spearmint comes in really handy if you have bad breath! (Now you’ll have spearminty-chocolate breath!) It also is effective agains indigestion and nausea, and can help you with respiratory issues. Not that anyone needs an excuse for eating chocolate ;)

While you commonly hear of Spearmint being added to toothpaste and candy, did you know the the Ancient Greeks enjoyed bathing with Spearmint? Minty fresh!!
